How to add Zozaa to Gemini

Zozaa compares grocery prices across South African stores. Add Zozaa to Gemini as a custom MCP server and you can ask Gemini to find and compare prices, build a basket and check your price alerts without leaving the chat.

You need a Google account with access to Gemini's connectors, and a free Zozaa account. You can sign in to Zozaa when Gemini asks you to approve the connection.

  1. Step 1: Open Connectors in Gemini

    Open Gemini, open the menu and go to Customize, then choose the Connectors tab. Your connected apps are listed under Active.

  2. Step 2: Add a custom MCP server

    Choose to add a custom connector. In the Connect to an MCP server window, paste the Zozaa address into MCP Server URL:

    https://zozaa.co.za/mcp

    The address must start with https://. Select Next.

  3. Step 3: Accept the security notice

    Gemini explains that custom connected apps haven't been reviewed by Google. Read it, tick I understand and accept the security and privacy risks of connecting this custom app, then select Connect.

  4. Step 4: Name the app

    On the Save your custom app screen, keep the name Zozaa. Gemini lists the actions Zozaa makes available, such as searching products and managing your basket. Select Connect again.

  5. Step 5: Approve access on Zozaa

    You are sent to a Zozaa page asking what the connection can do:

    • Read and write lets Gemini read your profile and change your display name, and manage your basket, favourites and price alerts.
    • Read only lets Gemini see your profile and basket but change nothing.

    Choose one and select Approve. You can disconnect at any time from the Connected assistants section of your Zozaa profile.

  6. Step 6: Ask Zozaa a question

    Back in a Gemini chat, type @Zozaa followed by what you want, for example:

    @Zozaa find me the cheapest 2 litre full cream milk

    Gemini asks Zozaa for live prices and shows you how the stores compare.
